I flew today, I really did, it was beautiful and amazing and so peaceful. Several months ago I purchased a coupon for tandem paragliding. (It was only $60 for each of us) Each year for Live Loud Day, the Angelversary of when Dave passed away, April 28th, I try to do something big. I started making appointments that weekend and have tried 5 times since then to get an appointment on a day when the winds were perfect for flying. Apparantly Paragliding is not for inpatient people like me, I knew it was for safety but it was still frustrating to get my hopes up and then get the appointment cancelled. As luck would have it, today- Father's Day, was our lucky day. We were told to be there at 7:30AM and Therion and I were both really excited. We drove up to the Point of the Mountain for our first big adventure together. After signing your life away- literally! We were given our student pilot license and introduced to our pilots.
Therion was first. He got strapped into the harness, got a helmet, was strapped to the pilot and taken to the side of the mountain. They let the sails out as if they are trying to fly a kite and all of a sudden you lift off the ground. You are flying!
The pilots have complete control of the sails at all times and can make it go up or down and side to side, they even let Therion control his for a while. I quickly joined him in the air and my pilot explained about air flows and how everything works. I loved every second of it.
It felt as if I was close to heaven, that all worries, troubles or cares had flown away with the breezes. It was magical! This was one of those moments that will be branded in my heart forever.
When it really comes down to it we are so small in this world but we don't have to live small. We can live big and fly above what you thought you were capable of, I felt free. This is what life is about, grasping opportunities as they arise and jumping off the cliff, you may be surprised at how high you can fly.
It was a perfect day, the kind of day I will look back at through my life and be so grateful for the opportunity. Today life is good and I was fortunate to experience this adventure with my best friend and love! Many more adventures to come!
